Capacity Upgrade between TornadoDC FRA1 - Digital Realty FRA16 and Equinix FR7 Aug 6, 2026 09:00-13:00 UTC

Update - The capacity upgrade between Digital Realty FRA16 and TornadoDC FRA1 has been implemented. Implementation of the upgrade between Equinix FR7 and TornadoDC FRA1 as well as Digital Realty FRA16 and Equinix FR7 will be done today. We will adjust routing policies afterwards to shift traffic on the new ring groups of the Frankfurt metro network.
Jul 21, 2026 - 09:26 UTC
Update - Transceivers are expected to be delivered in the next week, therefore we will carry out the maintenance likely Thursday/Friday.
Jul 10, 2026 - 09:12 UTC
Scheduled - We're going to implement another capacity upgrade between following Frankfurt sites:

- TornadoDC FRA1 - Digital Realty FRA16
- TornadoDC FRA1 - Equinix FR7

The said upgrade enhances connectivity by another 1.6 Tbps across the Frankfurt metro network based on tune-able coherent dwdm to provide sufficient future capacity for growing traffic demands in FRA, especially since we experience noticeable traffic growth compared to 6 months ago due to IP-Transit and Layer2 Transport needs.

Upgrade tasks are transparent, new wavelengths will be put into operation after light level verification. Transceivers have been ordered and are en-route to our office.

Jul 08, 2026 - 16:35 UTC

Darkfiber Migration - TornadoDC FRA1 Oct 28, 2026 10:00-16:00 UTC

We're going to carry out physical migration of darkfiber capacity at TornadoDC FRA1 to a new building entry. The works are being carried out to further diversify network transport capacity between additional physical fibers strands.

To do the same, we will move two fiber strands across building entries in coordination with the darkfiber supplier. It's necessary to temporarily disable capacity on one Ciena based DCI unit to carry out the same, traffic on our network will be shifted onto other paths. We will proactively inform related customers using lit wavelengths at least four weeks beforehand.

In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
Jul 13, 08:00 UTC
Scheduled - The authorized UPS maintenance service partner will carry out works on UPS device for RR.A UV03. During the maintenance works, we will carry out switching operations on the maintenance bypass of the related device to transfer the electrical loads. Since bypass switching operations are break-free, we do not expect any power interruption to power feeds connected on UV03, primarily relating to cabinet rows R05/R06 within RR.A.

Scheduled - We will roll out automated prefix-list updates, enabling downstream customers to advertise RPKI- and RIR-validated routes automatically into our network / we accept them automatically. The process works as follows:

- Newly observed prefix announcements are initially quarantined and tagged with BGP community 30823:30822.
- Newly detected prefixes are validated every **300 seconds** after they first become visible. We plan to reduce this validation interval in the future.
- Validation is performed against both **RPKI** and **RIR** data using third-party Internet registry infrastructure.
- Once validation succeeds, prefixes are promoted to the production state and tagged with BGP community 30823:30823.
- Prefix-lists are programmed onto our core routers via RPC. To support this process, the customer's ASN must be associated with one or more core routers.

If your ASNumber isnt associated yet with our routers, please contact us through helpdesk.

We are currently completing the remaining prerequisites for automated email notifications, similar to our DDoS incident notifications. We are also working on reducing the current 300-second validation interval to allow newly announced prefixes to be accepted more quickly.

Further features are being in progress to enhance network automation. More will be disclosed at a later time.
